Ruth Langsford recently revealed a surprising “little trick” that Eamonn Holmes would use to initiate intimacy, months before their highly publicized split. The revelation, unearthed from a resurfaced Loose Women clip, sheds light on a seemingly playful dynamic that existed within their marriage.
Speaking candidly about whether a sex ban would work in relationships, Ruth shared: “You can have all the compliments and the flowers, but then, if Eamonn comes home and has used my car and he goes, ‘Filled the petrol up and did your water bottle,’ I’m like, ‘Get upstairs right now.'” She continued, jokingly, “I hate doing it. Literally, I’ll go round with my petrol light on red, the water bottle empty, smeared [windscreen].”
Ruth explained, “Everyone’s got their little trick.” Little did she know, their relationship wouldn’t remain unchanged forever. Just months after this revealing conversation, news broke of their separation.
Eamonn and Ruth, married for 14 years, announced their divorce in May 2023. Cracks had been showing in their relationship for some time, with no public appearances together for two years prior. Since the split, Eamonn has moved on with relationship counsellor Katie Alexander, 42, whom he openly discusses in interviews.
Their romance blossomed quickly, with the pair jetting off on luxury holidays together over the summer. Interestingly, their connection dates back further than previously known. Reports surfaced revealing they exchanged flirty messages on social media as early as 2012, while both were married.
A source revealed, “‘We knew Eamonn and Katie got together via social media, but no one knew how far back they went. Ruth will be shocked they were in contact 12 years ago. I don’t think she would have known.'”
Meanwhile, Ruth recently opened up about heartbreak, confessing it’s her biggest fear, but not for herself. In an interview with Woman & Home, she shared, “When you have children, you look at them starting out in life and just want everything to be good for them, for them to be happy and to not have their hearts broken. You can’t guarantee any of that, but that’s what I want most for Jack.”
Ruth shares son Jack, 22, with Eamonn. She is also stepmother to his three older children, Declan, 35, Rebecca, 32, and Niall, 30, from his previous marriage.
Ruth’s candid revelations paint a complex picture of a relationship that seemingly held moments of joy alongside underlying complexities. While the future remains uncertain, Ruth’s focus remains on her son’s happiness, showcasing a mother’s unwavering love.
