Ruth Lorenzo: Bringing Experience and Authenticity to Benidorm Fest 2025
Spanish pop sensation Ruth Lorenzo is returning to host Benidorm Fest 2025, bringing her unique blend of musical experience, genuine empathy, and unflinching honesty to the stage. Joining her once again are Inés Hernand and newcomer Paula Vázquez, ready to guide Spain’s hopeful Eurovision contenders through a thrilling journey of song and competition.
This marks Lorenzo’s second consecutive year at the helm of the festival, a role she embraced with both excitement and a touch of nerves last year. "Eurovisión Junior was like my trial by fire," she recalls. "The energy was immense, performing in another language on a global stage. It was an incredible learning experience."
Through her lived experience, Lorenzo understands the pressures faced by aspiring artists. "I see things differently now", she explains. "I empathize with the artists on stage. I understand the nerves, the vulnerability. I want to create a space that supports them, a platform where they can truly shine."
While the Benidorm Fest is known for its up-tempo, high-energy atmosphere, Lorenzo wants to ensure a fair and engaging experience for all. “I believe in authenticity," she states. "It’s not just about the performance, but about the heart and soul behind the music. I’m not here to play it safe or be politically correct; artists deserve to express themselves honestly. But it’s also important to remember the audience – they are the reason we’re here. The music needs to connect with them."
For the hopeful artists competing this year, Lorenzo offers a clear piece of advice: “Be yourself. Stay true to your music, your identity. We want to see Spain represented authentically on the world stage. Eurovision is about sharing your artistry and connecting with global audiences.”
