Salka Weber: From Kiddy Contest to Forensics and Film
Salka Weber, born in 1989 in Vienna, Austria, has built a diverse career spanning music, theater, and television. Initially recognized for her performance in the 2001 “Kiddy Contest,” Weber has evolved into a respected actress, currently appearing in the RTL crime series “Alpentod – Ein Bergland-Krimi.”
Early Beginnings: The Kiddy Contest and Musical Theater
Weber’s early foray into the spotlight came with her participation in the “Kiddy Contest 2001,” where she performed the song “Erfinder-Kinder.” A video of her performance remains available on YouTube. During her studies, Weber gained stage experience in the musical “Hairspray” at the Deutsches Theater in Munich. This marked her first professional engagement and fostered her love for the city.
Transition to Film and Television
Weber’s career path gradually shifted towards film and television. She is now known for her role as a forensic archaeologist in “Alpentod – Ein Bergland-Krimi.” She recently appeared in the ARD film “Damen,” where she played a Munich woman in her thirties caring for her mother.

Weber expressed her fondness for Munich, recalling a particularly enjoyable experience during filming: “I had a really great apartment in the English Garden and walked there for an hour every day after filming. That was an absolute dream! The northern part of the English Garden is great!” She noted the vibrant social scene in Munich, observing that “so many people go out on Fridays and Saturdays.”
Exploring Family History and the Role of Women
The film “Damen” prompted Weber to reflect on the influence of ancestry on individual lives. She believes that “the experiences of one’s ancestors shape one’s own life in some way,” while also valuing the freedom to shape one’s own future. She expressed a preference for “forgetting a little bit about your own past” to foster creativity and liberation.
Weber also touched upon the evolving position of women in the film industry, noting that while progress is being made, there’s still a demand for more female representation behind the camera. She highlighted the importance of female voices in storytelling and the need to challenge outdated perspectives on gender roles.
Directorial Debut and Future Projects
Weber recently completed filming her second self-written and directed short film, a project she described as a “DIY project.” She is eager to continue developing her own projects and exploring international opportunities in filmmaking. She also expressed a desire to operate on auteur films, valuing the creative control and depth that comes with directors writing their own scripts.

With a diverse portfolio and a passion for both performing and creating, Salka Weber is poised for continued success in the entertainment industry. She is currently looking forward to taking a break after a busy ten months of work, stating, “That’s why for me it’s now: ‘Bathtub every day!’”
