Salt-N-Pepa, TLC, and En Vogue Announce ‘It’s Iconic’ Summer Tour
Three of the most successful R&B acts of the 1990s—Salt-N-Pepa, TLC, and En Vogue—are joining forces for a summer tour that will take them to amphitheaters across the United States. The “It’s Iconic” tour is set to kick off on August 15th and conclude on October 11th.
A Unique Touring Experience
Cheryl “Salt” James of Salt-N-Pepa described the tour as “the most fun touring experience” she’s ever anticipated, emphasizing a collaborative energy. “We’re doing the whole mixtape vibe, coming in and out,” she said in a video announcing the tour.
This “mixtape vibe” mirrors the format of recent tours by Recent Edition, Toni Braxton, and Boyz II Men, where artists seamlessly blend their sets without traditional opening or closing acts. Fans can expect a fast-paced performance featuring hits like “Shoop,” “Waterfalls,” and “My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It).”
Reunions and Remembrance
The tour marks a significant moment for Salt-N-Pepa, as Spinderella will join them after a period of estrangement and a prior legal dispute. En Vogue will feature three of its classic-era members: Terry Ellis, Cindy Herron, and Maxine Jones. Dawn Robinson, who was part of the group until 2011, is not participating.
TLC, now a duo consisting of Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, will continue to honor the memory of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, who passed away in 2002. They often incorporate video footage of Lopes during performances of iconic songs like “Waterfalls.”
Celebrating Resilience and Empowerment
Terry Ellis of En Vogue highlighted the significance of the tour, stating, “These ladies represent resilience and empowerment. To be a part of that is everything. They’re legends.” Chilli of TLC added that the music of the 1990s holds a special appeal, noting the strong lyrical content and its ability to connect with audiences of all ages.
