Sanremo Music Festival 2026: Your Guide to Voting and the Grand Finale
The 76th edition of the Sanremo Music Festival culminates tonight, Saturday, February 28, 2026, as the 30 competing artists in the Champions category take the stage for one final, decisive performance. The winner of Sanremo 2026 will earn the right to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna, scheduled from May 12th to 16th. Here’s a comprehensive guide to understanding the voting process, costs, and rules of this beloved Italian competition.
How to Vote for Your Favorite Artist
The public plays a crucial role in determining the winner through Televoting. Here’s how you can cast your vote:
- From Landline: Call 894.001 and follow the voice prompts to enter the two-digit code associated with the artist, as announced by Carlo Conti during the performance. The cost per call is €0.51.
- From Mobile Phone: Send an SMS to 475.475.1 with the artist’s two-digit code. Each message costs €0.50.
Voting Limits
To ensure fairness, voting is limited to a maximum of three votes per telephone user during each regular voting session. However, during the “Superfinal” phase, the rules are stricter, allowing only one vote per user.
The Two-Phase Voting System
The final night at the Teatro Ariston unfolds in two distinct phases:
Phase 1 – Performances by the Big 30
All 30 artists will perform their songs. Voting during this phase is weighted from Televoting (the public), the Press, TV and Web Room Jury, and the Radio Jury. These scores are combined with the artists’ accumulated scores from the first, second, and third evenings (the Cover evening on Friday is not factored into the final victory calculation). This combined data will determine the definitive ranking of the Big 30.
Phase 2 – The Superfinale to 5
Following the first phase, Carlo Conti will announce the top five artists. The initial ranking order will not be revealed to avoid influencing the public vote. The counters will then reset to zero, and the five finalists will perform again (or highlights of their performances will be shown). A final voting session will then open.
Weighting of the Juries
The final result is determined by a mixed voting system with the following weight percentages:
- 34% – Televoting (Public from home)
- 33% – Jury from the Press Room, TV and Web
- 33% – Radio Jury
The artist with the highest overall percentage in this final voting tranche will be crowned the winner of the Sanremo Music Festival 2026.
