Santiago Sánchez Cogedor has returned to set foot on Spanish soil after 15 months imprisoned in a prison in Iran. The Spanish adventurer has landed in the Madrid Barajas airport on a flight from Dubaiwhere he arrived yesterday Monday from Tehran.
Sánchez Cogedor had been detained since October 2022 and his release was announced on Sunday in a message on the social network both countries and in compliance with laws”.
The young man from Madrid has been received in style by his family and numerous friends, who since last year have organized various displays of solidarity with the detainee and protests demanding his freedom.
In the midst of a crowd of media waiting for him at the terminal, Sánchez Cogedor read a letter that the Iranian prisoners dedicated to him when they left.
“We don’t know how lucky we are to have been born in this country,” said the Spanish adventurer before the microphones. He added that “holding hatred and holding a grudge is cowardly,” even though “they wanted to sentence me to death. What sons of bitches,” a friend was heard saying.
