Sarah Almagro, European Adaptive Surfing Champion

The young surfer from Malaga Sarah Almagrowho at the age of 18 lost his hands and feet as a result of meningococcal meningitis, has managed to fulfill other of his dreams and this Friday he has proclaimed himself European Champion of Adapted Surfingin a competition that took place from July 3 to 6 at A Frouxeira beach in Valdoviño, in Galicia.

The athlete, born in Marbella 22 years ago and law student at the University of Malaga, won the first round of the category with a score of 14.83 and in the final he got a 15.67which has given him the victory representing the Spanish team, which has been in first position, above its closest rival, Portugal.

The weather conditions on the Galician beach were varied, with some day of showers and low temperaturesand although the sun has been seen, not enough to heat the water, which was kept at about 16 degrees.

Throughout this championship, surfers have entered a changing sea and variable conditions, with waves of one meter with an energy of 250 to two meter waves with 600 energy. The Marbella surfer, in the company of Uxío Rodríguez, coach of the Spanish Parasurfing Team, and Javier Donoso, her usual coach, has managed to prevail over the 45 participating athletes from countries such as Spain, Portugal, Italy, Wales, France, England, Germany and Israel.

This new new medal adds to his successful record that a bronze medal in the last Adapted Surfing World Championshipheld in California in December 2022, the gold medals of several Spanish Championships, as well as the Zarautz Pro Championshipfrom which he came out with the Best Wave of his category.
