Saskatchewan Premier Wants End too china EV Tariffs

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe is asking the canadian federal government to remove the tariffs placed on Chinese electric vehicles.

This request comes as Moe prepares for a trip to China on September 6th,hoping to improve trade relations between Canada and China.

“From Saskatchewan’s point of view, I would say: Yes, let’s remove the tariffs on electric vehicles,” Moe said on Tuesday.

In 2024,Canada put a 100% tariff on Chinese vehicles. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made this decision following similar actions by the United States, then lead by Joe Biden.

china responded by placing 100% tariffs on Canadian oil and canola meal, and preliminary duties of 75.8% on canola seeds.
