Martin Scorsese to Film in Úštěk, Czech Republic – ‘What Happens at Night’ Production Continues

The production of Martin Scorsese’s upcoming mystery thriller, What Happens at Night, is expanding across the Czech Republic, with filming scheduled in the historic town of Úštěk in northern Bohemia. Preparations are set to begin on March 14, with filming tentatively planned for March 16, weather permitting.

Filming Details and Location

Úštěk, located near Litoměřice, will serve as a filming location for scenes intended for the opening and closing credits of the film, according to Mayor Ondřej Elísek as reported by the Prague Reporter. The production, initially titled Schnapps, has already filmed near Kolín and will continue function in Prague, primarily utilizing studio spaces.

Streets around Mírové náměstí, Panský dvůr, and parts of 1. Máje street will be used for filming. Artificial snow will be created in the town center to establish a winter setting. The film crew will be based in the town’s cultural center and nearby public spaces, requiring temporary street closures and adjusted bus routes during the shoot .

Scorsese and DiCaprio’s Potential Presence

Mayor Elísek confirmed that Martin Scorsese is expected to be present during the filming in Úštěk . However, reports regarding Leonardo DiCaprio’s appearance in the town remain unconfirmed. Novinky.cz reports that the mayor saw Scorsese walking around the town square in February.
