Seahawks Coach Provides Insights After Dominant Win Against Cardinals
Seattle Seahawks’ Head Coach Pete Carroll was beaming after his team secured a decisive victory against the Arizona Cardinals. During a post-game press conference, Carroll shared his insights on various aspects of the game, highlighting the team’s strong performance across all three phases.
A Complete Team Effort
“This was probably our most complete game this season,” Carroll stated. “We’ve been really focused on playing complimentary football – offense, defense, and special teams working together as a unit. The Cardinals are a tough team; if you’re not careful, they can steal momentum. But our guys were locked in and dominated the game.”
Offensive Spark: Run Game Domination and Geno Smith’s Leadership
Carroll lauded the offensive line, praising their performance as potentially their best of the season. “They blocked their tails off,” he remarked. “Geno deserves a lot of credit too – he’s playing with great decisiveness and accuracy. He made some key throws, especially in critical moments, keeping drives alive. His leadership is a huge asset to this offense.”
Carroll also acknowledged Zach Charbonnet’s significant contributions: “Zach did a great job. He’s physical and tough to bring down. He’s a real weapon for us.”
Defensive Resilience and Turnovers
Despite a slow start, the Seahawks defense rallied, culminating in crucial turnovers that provided the offense with scoring opportunities. “We had some early struggles, but then we made adjustments and held them in check,” said Carroll. “Coby Bryant had a huge interception on a coverage bust, saving our tails. His ability to erase mistakes makes a huge difference.”
“The turnover margin is so important,” Carroll emphasized, “and to capitalize on them in positive territory – that’s what champions do. Jaxon (Smith-Njigba) and Geno made a great play on the sudden-change touchdown. That momentum shift was huge.
Acknowledging the Road Warriors
With a 5-1 record on the road this season, Carroll praised the passionate Seahawks fans who continue to travel and support their team. “Our fans deserve a lot of credit,” he said. “They were loud – they had us on silent cadence for most of the game. It was awesome atmosphere. We’re lucky to have the best fans in the world.
Looking Ahead
Carroll concluded by discussing the upcoming prime-time matchup, emphasizing the team’s focus on keeping the momentum going. The Seahawks are looking forward to continuing their winning ways next week.
