Sejong City neighborhoods Foster Community Through Vibrant Sports and Cultural Events
Sejong, South Korea – On November 1st, residents of Hamil-dong, Daepyeong-dong, and Dajeong-dong in Sejong City came together to participate in a series of local sports and cultural events designed to strengthen community bonds and encourage resident interaction. Each neighborhood hosted unique festivities, offering a diverse range of activities for all ages and interests.
Hamil-dong: A Rainbow of Sports and Unity
The hamil-dong Sports Association organized the ‘Hamil-Sanul-dong Rainbow sports Competition’ at hamil Hanbit park, bringing together residents from both Hamil-dong and Sanul-dong.The event expanded beyond traditional sports, incorporating popular games like badminton and table tennis alongside cheerful, team-based competitions. Approximately 40 residents actively participated in the sports portion, demonstrating skill and camaraderie.
The cheerful games saw around 400 residents divided into teams, fostering unity through collaborative activities such as rolling a large ball, a lucky dice game, and running through hoops. Adding to the festive atmosphere, a flea market, experience booths, a captivating bubble performance, and a variety of food trucks provided entertainment for families.
“It was a meaningful time for the two villages of Haemi-dong and Sanul-dong to sweat together and become one,” stated Han Jae-il, chairman of the Hamil-dong Sports Council. “We will continue to provide opportunities for harmony and dialog.”
Daepyeong-dong: Revitalizing Sports and Family Fun
Daepyeong-dong hosted its ‘3rd Daepyeong-dong One mind Sports Competition’ at the Daepyeong-dong Happy Nurimteo Gymnasium, organized by the Daepyeong-dong Sports Council. the event aimed to revitalize daily sports participation and promote harmony amongst residents, featuring a dynamic programme including a Taekwondo demonstration, a Korean language quiz, and a vibrant balloon performance.
Families and children were delighted by the experience booths, which offered inflatable amusement rides, Korean snack decorating, and temporary tattoo applications. In line with the village planning project focused on establishing Daepyeong-dong as a “bicycle city,” residents had the chance to experience electric bicycles, highlighting the importance of sustainable transportation.
Kang Ok-ju, president of the Daepyeong-dong Sports Council, expressed her hope that the sports festival would serve as “a venue for residents to come together, harmonize, and communicate,” ultimately invigorating their daily lives.
Dajeong-dong: A Generational Party of Culture and Youth
Dajeong-dong’s ‘Kind Gaon Festival with Youth’ at Happy Nurimteo was linked
