Senate Probes Alleged Human Rights Abuses by Doomsday Preacher Apollo Quiboloy

MANILA, Philippines – The Senate committee on women, children, family relations and gender equality, chaired by Senator Risa Hontiveros, will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, October 23, to investigate alleged human rights abuses committed by doomsday preacher Apollo Quiboloy.

This will mark Quiboloy’s first appearance before the Senate. He is currently detained at a facility inside Camp Crame.

Allegations of Abuse Within the Kingdom of Jesus Christ

Senator Hontiveros’ committee is looking into serious allegations of “large-scale human trafficking, rape, sexual abuse and violence, and child abuse” within Quiboloy’s religious group, the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC).
