Senator Fontana Secures $890,536 in Grants for Allegheny County Safety and Justice Initiatives
Allegheny County, PA – March 11, 2026 – Senator Wayne Fontana today announced $890,536 in grants awarded to organizations in Allegheny County to bolster indigent defense, provide vital treatment for incarcerated individuals, and enhance security measures for local nonprofits. The funding, distributed by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD), stems from three programs established and funded by the Pennsylvania General Assembly.
Supporting Justice and Treatment Programs
“These PCCD grants will help to ensure that incarcerated persons receive the treatment they need and the legal representation they are due,” said Sen. Fontana. “And I am proud to have advocated for the NonProfit Security Grant Program funding that was awarded to organizations in my district susceptible to targeted hate.”
A significant portion of the funding, $250,000, has been allocated to Allegheny County for the Vivitrol Program at the Allegheny County Jail. This program provides once-a-month treatment to individuals struggling with opioid or alcohol addiction.
