AirDroid: Seamless File Sharing Between Android and MacOS

Apple makes file sharing between iOS and MacOS devices effortless with AirDrop. But what if you’re using Android and MacOS? While creating a network share is an option, it can be complicated. Fortunately, there’s a simpler solution: AirDroid.

AirDroid is a free (with premium features) app that allows you to easily transfer files between your Android device and your MacOS computer. No complex network configurations needed.

AirDroid: Free vs. Premium

AirDroid offers both a free and a premium plan.

  • Free Plan: Offers up to 200MB of remote data, file size management up to 30MB, transfer size up to 30MB, and the ability to connect two Android devices.
  • Premium Plan: Costs $3.99/month and unlocks unlimited remote data, larger file size management (up to 200MB), larger file transfer size (1GB), and the ability to add three Android devices.

How to Use AirDroid

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use AirDroid:

Choose the file(s) you want to send and tap “Send.” The file will be transferred automatically to your MacOS device and saved in the “Downloads” folder.

To transfer files from MacOS to Android, follow the same steps, selecting the file you want to send from your MacOS device.

Once the transfer is complete, you can open the file directly from within the AirDroid app.
