Shin Yu-bin Continues Momentum at Asian Table Tennis Championship

Shin Yu-bin (21, Korean Air), who defeated Chinese players and won the semi-finals of the China Smash 2025, continues the momentum at the Asian table tennis championship.

According to the Korea Table Tennis Association, the Korean table tennis team left for Bhubaneswar, India, where the 2025 Asian Table Tennis Championships will be held, through Incheon International Airport on the morning of the 7th. Executives of the Korean Table Tennis Association, including President Lee Tae-sung, senior vice chairman Hyun jung-hwa, and vice chairman Yoo Nam-gyu, saw the team off.

The Asian Table Tennis Championship, previously the best national competition in Asia held every two years, has been changed to an annual event since last year. This year’s tournament is the first Asian championship to separate solo and team competitions. The Asian Championships will now alternate between individual and team competitions in line with the World Table Tennis Congress schedule (Solo, Team Exhibition).

The tournament will also serve as a qualifier for the London World Championships next year. However, the Asia Table Tennis Union (ATTU) has already granted participation rights to the top six countries from the Astana Tournament last year, which was the last tournament to include both solo and team events. This competition will determine additional quotas for the next year’s world championship, which will be temporarily expanded in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of its launch. This is not directly related to the Korean national team, which has already secured its participation.
