Spring Breakout 2026: MLB’s Showcase of Future Stars Kicks Off

Spring Breakout, Major League Baseball’s premier showcase for top prospects, returns for its third installment starting today, March 19, 2026 and continuing through Sunday evening. All 30 MLB clubs will feature teams comprised of their best young talent in the event.

A Stage for Rising Talent

This year’s Spring Breakout boasts a strong roster of potential future stars, with 54 players from MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 Prospects list participating . More than 500 of the players on teams’ Top 30 Prospects lists are as well scheduled to play . Fourteen No. 1 prospects and an additional 16 ranked No. 2 within their organizations will be on display .

How to Watch

All 16 games will be streamed live and without blackouts on MLB’s digital platforms – MLB.com, MLB.TV, and the MLB app – as well as partner platforms. Seven games will be broadcast live on MLB Network, with the remaining nine shown on tape delay.

Featured Matchups (March 19, 2026)

  • Nationals @ Cardinals: This matchup, selected by MLB Pipeline experts, features Eli Willits, Washington’s No. 1 overall pick from 2025, against St. Louis’s No. 5 overall prospect, JJ Wetherholt. The Cardinals will also showcase left-handed pitcher Liam Doyle, selected four spots after Willits in the previous draft .
  • Rays @ Mets (7:10 p.m. ET): Speed is the highlight of this contest, with Tampa Bay’s Theo Gillen, who stole 36 bases in 73 Minor League games last year, facing off against the Mets’ A.J. Ewing, who recorded 70 stolen bases and an .830 OPS in 124 Minor League games .
  • Reds @ Giants (9:05 p.m. ET): The Cincinnati Reds will feature Alfredo Duno, ranked as MLB’s No. 4 catching prospect, and Steele Hall, their 2025 No. 9 overall pick. The San Francisco Giants will showcase Luis Hernandez, the No. 1 prospect in this year’s international class, who at 17 years old will be the youngest player in Spring Breakout .
