Steibus Church Concert Series Announces 2025 Season
the historic St. Anna Church in Steibus will once again host its celebrated Sunday concert series this summer, continuing a tradition of bringing Renaissance and Baroque musical masterpieces to the region. This year’s program promises a diverse and captivating lineup for music enthusiasts.
A Quartet’s Debut and International Talent
Attendees who enjoyed last year’s performance by a women’s string trio will be delighted to learn the ensemble has expanded, evolving into the string quartet “Dandelia.” They will inaugurate the season on July 6th with a program featuring compositions by Mozart, Wranitzky, and Richter. According to organizers,the demand for live classical music is experiencing a resurgence,with attendance at similar events across Europe increasing by an estimated 15% in the last two years.
The series will also welcome french musician Jean-Paul Serra on July 13th, showcasing his virtuosity on both the organ and harpsichord.
Regional Premieres and Local Connections
On July 20th, the renowned Gambenconsort “A Chest of Viols,” under the direction of Pierre Pitzl, will make its debut appearance in Steibus, traveling from Vienna for this special performance. This marks the first time the ensemble has performed outside of its home city, highlighting the growing reputation of the Steibus concert series.
The final concert on July 27th will feature an ensemble deeply rooted in the local area: Anna Magdalena Auzinger (soprano), Hans Brüderl (lute), and Jörg Zwicker (Baroque cello). Their performance is anticipated to resonate especially strongly with audiences familiar with the unique atmosphere of Steibus.
Patronal Feast Festivity
Concluding the series on July 27th,Abbot emeritus Martin Felhofer will lead a special service honoring the patronal feast,accompanied by the beautiful harmonies of the vocal ensemble Voices. This event blends spiritual observance with artistic expression, offering a fitting finale to the summer’s musical offerings.
