‘Who has she hit?’: Star loses her mind

Aryna Sabalenka was left fuming after a controversial call during her US Open quarter-final against Qinwen Zheng, with the Belarusian questioning “who has she hit?” after a line call went against her.

Sabalenka, the reigning Australian Open champion, secured a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 victory over Zheng to reach the semi-finals. Though, the match wasn’t without its drama, with a crucial call in the first set sparking outrage from the world No.2.

During a tense rally, Sabalenka believed she had hit a clean winner, but the line judge called it out. The chair umpire overruled the line judge, calling it in, but Sabalenka was visibly incensed, approaching the umpire to voice her frustration.

“Are you serious?” Sabalenka asked the umpire.”what are you looking at? Who has she hit?”

The incident ignited a fire in Sabalenka, who went on to win the set and ultimately the match.

“I was a little bit frustrated with this call, but I just tried to forget about it and move on,” Sabalenka said in her post-match interview.”I was really focused on every point and trying to do my best.”

Sabalenka will now face Madison Keys in the semi-finals, as she aims to reach her second Grand Slam final of the year.
