Stars Surge Past Oilers 7-2, Extend Point Streak to 14 Games
DALLAS – Jason Robertson and Jamie Benn each scored twice as the Dallas Stars continued their impressive run, defeating the Edmonton Oilers 7-2 on Thursday night. The Stars are now 13-0-1 in their last 14 games, marking their longest point streak in 25 years.
Robertson and Benn Lead the Charge
Jason Robertson tied a career-high with four points, netting two goals and adding two assists. Captain Jamie Benn also found the back of the net twice, contributing to the Stars’ dominant offensive performance. Wyatt Johnston added a goal and two assists, while Miro Heiskanen contributed three assists.
Early Dominance and Power Play Prowess
Benn opened the scoring just 1:23 into the game, setting the tone for the Stars’ offensive onslaught. Robertson’s second goal of the night extended the lead to 5-0 early in the second period. Johnston also reached the 35-goal mark, capitalizing on a power play opportunity. The Stars have scored with the man advantage in 11 consecutive games.
Oilers Struggle to Respond
Evan Bouchard and Jason Dickinson scored for the Edmonton Oilers, but their efforts were not enough to overcome the Stars’ relentless attack. Oilers goaltender Tristan Jarry allowed at least four goals for the sixth time in his last seven games, conceding five goals on the Stars’ first 13 shots.
McDavid and Hryckowian Exchange Blows
Late in the second period, a brief altercation broke out between Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid and Dallas Stars rookie Justin Hryckowian. Both players received minor penalties for the exchange.
Stars’ Historic Streak
The Stars’ 14-game point streak is their longest since a 15-game run during the 1998-99 season. Wyatt Johnston’s power-play goal tied Dino Ciccarelli’s franchise record for most power-play goals in a season, set in 1986-87.
Looking Ahead
The Dallas Stars will look to continue their impressive form as they move forward in the season, while the Edmonton Oilers will aim to rebound from this defeat.
