About the Berlin Ice Sports Association
The BEV serves as the official governing body for five key ice sports in Berlin: curling, ice hockey, figure skating, speed skating, and ice rink operations. Representing the interests of approximately 4,600 members across 16 affiliated clubs, the BEV is a cornerstone of the city’s vibrant sporting community. The association operates with a volunteer board providing strategic direction, supported by a dedicated professional office team.
Recent data from the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) indicates a growing participation in winter sports, with a 7% increase in registered athletes across Germany in the last five years. This upward trend underscores the importance of strong, effective leadership within organizations like the BEV to capitalize on this momentum.
The Role: A Central Hub for Ice Sports Growth
Based in Berlin-Wilmersdorf,with a presence at the Sportforum berlin,the BEV’s offices are the central nervous system of the association.All organizational functions converge here, making this position a critical point of influence. The Managing Director will be responsible for providing fresh perspectives and innovative approaches to further develop ice sports in Berlin. This position can be fulfilled on a full-time or two part-time basis, offering versatility for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic leadership: Contribute to the long-term vision and strategic planning of the BEV, ensuring alignment with the evolving needs of its members and the broader sporting landscape.
Organizational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the association, streamlining processes and maximizing efficiency.
Financial Oversight: Manage financial planning,budgeting,and reporting,ensuring responsible stewardship of association resources.
Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with member clubs,sponsors,and key stakeholders within the Berlin sports community.
Administrative Expertise: Provide expert guidance in office organization, event planning, and administrative procedures.
Your Profile: Skills and Experience
we are looking for a highly organized, sports-minded, and solution-oriented individual. The ideal candidate will possess:
A university degree in sports management or a related field, or equivalent professional training.
Demonstrated professional experience in association or non-profit management, with a preference for experience within a sports organization. Proven ability in financial planning, office administration, and public relations.
Strong interaction and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse groups.
A proactive and eager approach to problem-solving and innovation.
