Police Chase in Kinzigtal: 25-Year-Ancient Without Insurance Apprehended, Suspected of Drug Use
Steinau im Kinzigtal, Germany – A 25-year-old man was arrested on March 1, 2026, after attempting to evade police on a motorized two-wheeler. The individual was found to be operating the vehicle without a driver’s license or insurance, and is suspected of being under the influence of cannabis, according to a report from the Southeast Hesse Police Headquarters.
Details of the Incident
On Sunday evening, a police patrol observed the man riding a motorized two-wheeler on a cycle path in Steinau. When officers signaled for him to stop, he allegedly ignored the command and attempted to flee. A short pursuit ensued, during which the vehicle lost traction and slid.
Despite avoiding a fall, the 25-year-old was quickly apprehended by responding officers. A subsequent check revealed he did not possess a valid driver’s license. Police spokesman Thomas Leipold stated that there is also suspicion of cannabis use, leading to a blood sample being taken for analysis. The motorized two-wheeler was not registered and displayed an unissued insurance license plate, meaning no liability insurance was in effect.
Vehicle Impounded, Investigation Ongoing
The unregistered vehicle was towed from the scene. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the 25-year-old. The investigation is ongoing to determine the extent of any drug use and to address the violations of operating a vehicle without a license and insurance.
