The Tragic Final Hours of Stephen Gately

similarly to the death of One Direction star Liam Payne in October 2024, Boyzone star Stephen Gately’s passing shook music fans.

The singer was just 33 when he tragically passed away in his partner Andrew Cowles’ arms after a night out in Mallorca on October 10, 2009.

stephen and his partner were on a month-long getaway in their €1.2million holiday home in Spain after a long and successful tour with Boyzone.

The Saturday night of Stephen’s passing started the same as any other, a romantic dinner at one of their favorite restaurants and a trip to the pub, before heading home at 5.30am.

The singer fell asleep in his partner’s arms on the couch, but at around 8.30am, andrew decided to return to his bedroom- completely unaware Stephen was dead beside him.

The singer’s cause of death was an undetected heart condition known as atheromatosis, wich caused his arteries to thicken and led to his lungs filling with fluid suddenly.

Stephen was found dead by Bulgarian student, Georgi, whom the couple had brought home that night after he woke up to smoke a cigarette at around 1.30pm.
