Sudbury Man Charged in Fatal Hit-and-Run on Paris Street

A 55-year-old Sudbury man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a 46-year-old woman who was struck by a vehicle on Paris Street on February 27, 2026. The incident occurred shortly before 7 a.m. Near the apartment complex at 1720 Paris Street.

Details of the Incident

According to the Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS), the woman was walking in the northbound lane of Paris Street when she was hit by a vehicle that subsequently left the scene . First responders provided immediate medical attention, but the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police are withholding the woman’s name at the request of her family .

Investigation and Arrest

Investigators utilized CCTV footage and Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) technology to identify the vehicle involved in the collision . A search warrant was executed at the registered owner’s residence, leading to the identification and arrest of the 55-year-old man on Friday afternoon .

Charges and Court Appearance

The man is charged with failure to stop after an accident causing death. Police have not yet released his name as the information has not been formally sworn to through the court process . The vehicle involved has been seized and will undergo forensic and mechanical examinations .

The accused has been released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in Sudbury on April 29, 2026 .
