This weekend the third Summer Seven of hockey was held in Caleta Olivia, organized by the Las Panteras club, with the participation of 19 female, mixed and mom teams from Caleta Olivia, Pico Truncado and Perito Moreno.
The tournament began on Saturday and ended on Sunday, with the finals of the mixed and mami categories taking place, consolidating itself as a sporting proposal that continues to grow in number and organization.
In dialogue with La Vanguardia Noticias, Brenda Maimo highlighted the work carried out by the organizing club and the institutional support that allowed the event to take place.
For his part, the Secretary of State for Sports of the province of Santa Cruz, Gabriel Murúa, valued the promotion of women’s and mixed hockey, and highlighted the growth process of Las Panteras, a club that was recently formed and that received legal advice from Olga Álvarez to obtain its legal status.
Murúa also invited other sports institutions to advance in their legal regularization, emphasizing that having legal status is key to accessing programs and support from the State.
The tournament was organized jointly between Las Panteras Club and the Sports Secretariat of the Municipality of Caleta Olivia, with the accompaniment of Mayor Pablo Carrizo.
In this framework, the provincial official announced that during February the meetings with sports directors of the different municipalities of the province will continue, in line with one of the management axes of Governor Claudio Vidal, which aims to reach every corner of Santa Cruz with sports policies.
“We started in the San Benito neighborhood of Río Gallegos and also on the synthetic grass field of the shelter with children’s soccer. We work with an interdisciplinary team that works very well,” said Murúa, adding that the objective is to reorganize, strengthen structures and continue expanding the scope of the sport in the province.
