Sungshin Women’s University Completes 2026 Global Summer Program Focused on Cybersecurity and AI

Sungshin Women’s University, a South Korean institution specializing in integrated security studies, successfully concluded its 2026 summer global exchange program in London, according to an official announcement on June 14.

Global Cybersecurity and Tech Exploration

The 11-day program, held from June 24 to July 4, 2026, involved 19 undergraduate and graduate students who visited leading UK institutions including Imperial College London, the London School of Economics (LSE), and University College London (UCL). These visits provided insights into advanced scientific education, criminological research, and digital forensics, according to the university’s statement. Participants also engaged in workshops and discussions with experts to bridge academic learning with real-world applications.

Industry exposure was a key component of the program. Students toured BlackRock’s London headquarters, gaining understanding of financial data analytics and career pathways in global finance.

Counterterrorism and Digital Forensics Immersion

A highlight of the program was a visit to the UK’s Counter Terrorism Operations Centre (CTOC), where students observed digital evidence analysis and AI-powered investigative tools.

The program also included a seminar by the South Korean embassy in the UK, featuring a cybercrime investigator from the Metropolitan Police Service. The session covered UK cybercrime investigation frameworks and case studies, providing participants with a comparative perspective on international law enforcement practices.

Academic Leadership and Future Goals

Looking ahead, Sungshin Women’s University plans to expand partnerships with international institutions to enhance its AI and cybersecurity research infrastructure. The program aligns with South Korea’s broader strategy to develop “core technology” in information and communication, as outlined in the National Information and Communication Core Technology Development Project.
