The Super Mario Galaxy Movie: Voice Cast Expands with Luis Guzmán, Issa Rae, and Donald Glover
Illumination and Nintendo are adding some star power to The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, with Luis Guzmán, Issa Rae, and Donald Glover joining the voice cast. The sequel to 2023’s box office hit, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, is set to release in theaters on April 3, 2026, in the US, with a later release date of April 24, 2026, in Japan and select territories throughout April .
New Voice Cast Members
The newly announced cast members will portray key characters in the upcoming film:
- Luis Guzmán will voice Wart, a recurring antagonist in the Super Mario franchise. Guzmán is known for his roles in films like Boogie Nights and Magnolia, as well as his voice work as Ricardo Díaz in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
- Issa Rae will voice the Honey Queen, leader of the Honeyhive Galaxy. Rae is the creator of the HBO show Insecure and has appeared in films such as American Fiction and Barbie. She likewise voiced Spider-Woman in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
- Donald Glover will voice Yoshi. Glover, also known as the musician Childish Gambino, is the creator of the show Atlanta and has appeared in Community and Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Returning Voice Talent
The returning voice cast includes Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Production Details
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, with a screenplay by Matthew Fogel. Brian Tyler is composing the score. The film is produced by Chris Meledandri of Illumination and Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo, and is co-financed by Universal Pictures and Nintendo.

Nintendo is planning to release daily digital collectible cards on the Nintendo Today! app starting soon, with a total of 40 cards to collect. Users can also unlock digital wallpapers and photo frames by checking in at the movies with the app.
