Ben Affleck has heaped praise on his estranged wife, Jennifer Lopez, for her performance in the upcoming sports drama “Unstoppable.” The actor-director, who is a producer on the film, called Lopez “spectacular” when speaking to Entertainment Tonight on Sunday.
Affleck joined forces with longtime collaborator Matt Damon and Oscar-winning actor Cillian Murphy for the interview. “Unstoppable,” directed by William Goldenberg, follows the inspiring journey of Anthony Robles, a college wrestler born with one leg, portrayed by Jharrel Jerome.
The film also boasts a stellar cast including Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, and Don Cheadle. “Unstoppable” hits theaters on December 6th.
Affleck: ‘Jennifer is Spectacular’
“Jennifer is spectacular,” Affleck said during the interview, highlighting Lopez’s talent and dedication to the project. ” Unstoppable is another example of the kind of films that [Damon and I] are really really proud of, and believed in the right people in collaborating with,” Affleck added.
He also spoke fondly of working alongside Lopez, stating, ” … [If] you don’t like who you’re working with, and if you have difficulty or trouble at work, I think it’s one of the things that can really cause depression, anxiety and pain for people. And conversely, [if] you love the people at work, you probably have a pretty good life, you know?”
Lopez on Handling Adversity
In a separate interview with Interview Magazine, Lopez discussed how she navigates difficult times. “I think my whole life I’ve just been trying to say I’m good enough, until where I am now, when I know,” she said. “I’m giving myself credit. I’m telling that little girl that grew up in the Bronx, ‘You’ve done really good for yourself.’ I didn’t do that for so many years.”
Lopez emphasized resilience. “There’s something to be said for that because things can really change your life in a way that you do want to give up and say, ‘F*** this, this is too hard, I don’t want to do this anymore.’ But I’m not there. I refuse to not give myself everything that little girl deserves.”

Affleck commented on their collaboration during an interview with CBS Sunday Morning. “What fun, what a joy to do something with her, see her be great, go to work with your wife, go to work with your best friend,” he shared. “Can’t make it look like she’s doing it as a favor to me, but actually she is.”
A Rekindled Romance and a New Chapter
Affleck and Lopez’s current chapter began in 2021, 17 years after calling off their original engagement and postponing a planned September 2003 wedding. They marked their one-year anniversary in 2022 and exchanged vows in Las Vegas in a casual ceremony before having a larger wedding ceremony in Georgia that same month.
However, in 2024, Lopez filed for divorce, marking the end of their brief but highly publicized marriage.
