Sylvain Guintoli to Run London Marathon in Racing Leathers for Cancer Charity

Former WorldSBK champion Sylvain Guintoli will participate in the 2026 London Marathon wearing a full racing leather suit to raise funds and awareness for PASIC, a charity supporting children and families affected by cancer. The unique tribute is in memory of his son, Luca, who passed away last summer after a year-long battle with the disease.

A Personal Tribute

Guintoli announced his intention to run the marathon last November and revealed the specially designed leathers earlier this month. The suit features a Sonic the Hedgehog design, Luca’s favorite character, as a symbol of speed and courage. “Sonic runs fast, so it’s appropriate for the London Marathon!” Guintoli explained according to Visordown.

Supporting PASIC

The leathers prominently display the logo of PASIC (Cancer Support for Children and Young People), highlighting the charity’s vital work. Guintoli emphasized the importance of PASIC’s support during Luca’s illness and the ongoing assistance they provide to families. Crash.net reports that Guintoli stated, “PASIC were there for us from the start. They’re still helping us now.”

Family Effort

Guintoli will not be running alone. He will be joined by his daughters, Alicia and Layla, in the 26.2-mile race. The family’s participation underscores their commitment to honoring Luca’s memory and supporting PASIC’s mission. According to Guintoli’s fundraising page, the family hopes to raise awareness and funds to ensure no family in the East Midlands faces childhood cancer alone.

From Racing to Running

Guintoli, a champion in both Superbike World Championship (2014 with Aprilia) and FIM World Endurance (2021 with Suzuki), is now a pundit on TNT Sports MotoGP coverage. He has been training in the racing suit to prepare for the challenge. He acknowledged the unusual nature of running a marathon in full leathers, stating, “I know it sounds a little extreme, weird,” but reiterated his dedication to the cause. GPone.com notes that Guintoli began training in the suit some time ago.

How to Support

Those wishing to support Sylvain Guintoli and PASIC can donate through his official fundraising page: https://2026tcslondonmarathon.enthuse.com/pf/sylvain-guintoli. As of February 27, 2026, the campaign has raised over £31,400, exceeding its £20,000 target.
