Telefónica has invested 32,000 million euros in the United Kingdom

The president of Telefónica, José María Álvarez-Pallete, As he passed through London, he assured that his company has invested the equivalent of 32,000 million euros (28,000 pounds) in the United Kingdom, considered as “one of the key markets”.

Álvarez-Pallete was the guest at the gala dinner of Chamber of Commerce Spanish in the United Kingdom and took the opportunity to highlight how “Spanish companies and talent contribute significantly to create jobs, wealth and ways of life inside and outside our borders.

“Since I first arrived in the United Kingdom, the ties between both countries have grown exponentially,” said Alvarez-Pallete. “Then there were a few companies present (on British soil) compared to 700 today. And the flow of annual investments between both countries exceeds 10,000 million euros.”

The president of Telefónica recalled the “strategic decision” to enter the British market with the O2 acquisition, the largest mobile telephone network in the country. In 2020, the company opened a new chapter in the British telecommunications market with the merger of O2 and Virgin Media.

“This operation was possible thanks to the openness, vision and commitment of our partner Liberty Media”, Álvarez-Pallete specified. “Together we are making history.”
