An intelligent, educated character with a fine sense of humor who is part of the history of 20th century bullfighting both for the Business Management from a multitude of bullrings such as Zaragoza, Salamanca, Valladolid, Badajoz, Gijón, Albacete, Valencia, Burgos or Santander, among others, as well as his role as proxy. Jose Antonio Martinez Uranga throughout his career represented Paco Way y al Child of the Capea as well as other matadors of the importance of paquirri, Jose Maria Manzanares, damaso gonzalez, jose louis galloso, Luis Francisco Espla (in two periods including the historic farewell) and the dynastic l son and Rafi Camino, among others.
Brother of Javier Martínez Uranga -of whom he was a partner in numerous Tairino projects-, cousin of the great Manuel Chopera, uncle of Pablo and Óscar, Martínez Uranga, third generation of the mythical Chopera family and father of the businessman and attorney Manuel Martínez Erice -his right hand-.
The writer Carlos Abella, a personal friend of Martínez Uranga, with whom he coincided at the head of Las Ventas as managing director of the Center for Bullfighting Affairs while Uranga was a businessman, reminds him of this: “I want to highlight his human category, his sense of humor and his ability to work to share his career with bullfighting figures. One of the great businessmen of bullfighting, fundamental in the history of bullfighting, disappears”.
In 2022, the Community of Madrid paid homage to him, attended by his children Beatriz, Elena and Manuel, as well as some of his grandchildren. Precisely last year he lost his wife María del Rosario Erice, who instilled in him a passion for Pamplona and with whom he was always very close.
Martínez Uranga was also a farmer with the Miranda de Pericalvo iron, fighting successfully in Pamplona, Salamanca and Madrid.
