The fever for high-cost technological products has skyrocketed the sales of Samsung in Spain to register 1,880 million euros of revenue during 2022, which represents an increase of 11% compared to the previous year. The company also had a net profit of 36.8 million euros, 6.67% more than in 2021.
Demand for mobile phones and other electronic devices it was falling apart as the past year progressed until a fall of 11.3% at the level worldwide, with a drop that exceeded 18% in the last quarter, the largest drop in the history of the mobile segment, according to the consultancy IDC Research. This dynamic has also been repeated in other segments in which the South Korean manufacturer is present, such as computers.
However, the companies that remain in the highest value (and price) segment of the chain, such as Apple and Samsung, have maintained the rate and even improved their economic magnitudes, as shown by the accounts last year in Spain to which it has had access THE WORLD, unlike other companies more focused on low cost that have experienced setbacks, as is the case of Chinese manufacturers. The president of Samsung Electronics Iberia, dave dashighlighted the company’s ability to adapt to “changing market demand” during the past year”. The growth of 11% at the local level means that the growth registered by the group is three points higher.
During the year, Samsung made purchases and investments in local suppliers worth 183.4 million euros, which represents 84% of the total, while its contribution to GDP amounted to 818 million euros, according to company estimates.
Looking ahead to 2023, the company is facing a similar juncturesince, despite the fact that the demand for terminals has fallen in general lines, the bet of users to buy more expensive mobile phones is maintained and also, the telecommunications operators have resumed with renewed vigor the subsidies for terminals, which allows increase device sales and benefit manufacturers.
