The evacuation of the Spaniards trapped in Niger. The Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares, has informed via Twitter that the first national citizens have arrived in Franksa on a flight from Niger. Finally, Spain has relied on Emmanuel Macron to undertake the extraction of non-combatant personnel from the African country, which suffered a coup on July 26. As reported by foreign sources to THE WORLDthere are more than twenty citizens who have come to Paris this morning, where they have been received by the ambassador and the consul, who have accompanied them to a hotel to rest. Throughout today, they will provide them with a plane ticket to return to Spain. The same sources have reported that not all Spaniards residing in Niger want to return.
“Today the first Spaniards have arrived from Niger, in collaboration with France. Merci/Thank you @MinColonna @francediplo. We continue to work on the ground for the rest of our compatriots,” Albares wrote on his social networks.
The Executive calculated that just over 70 Spaniards needed to be evacuated from the country. Since Monday they have been working to remove them, and yesterday the minister convened a crisis cabinet to advance in the coordination of the extraction.
The French Government is the one that has obtained the permits to be able to land in Niamey, while the Spanish Air Force and space plane continues to negotiate to obtain that authorization. The procedures are being coordinated by the Operations Command, attached to the Ministry of Defence.
