The Government is studying declassifying the reserved documents of the National Intelligence Center (CNI) related to espionage with the Pegasus software on several members of the independence movement. The information has been revealed by the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, in an appearance before the media.
The procedure responds to the judge’s request Santiago Garciahead of the investigating court number 29 of Barcelona, in the case in which Peter Aragonés wants to clarify the reasons why his communications through his mobile phone were intercepted. Aragonès himself is scheduled to testify next Wednesday, December 13, in this case.
Not so the former director of the CNI, Paz Esteban, whom the magistrate charged after studying the arguments of Aragonès’ complaint, based on what was said in the Official Secrets Commission – whose content should be strictly private – and on the investigation. from Citizen Lab.
Until a few days ago, they had to testify this Wednesday, however, thanks to the resource of the State Attorney’s Office, in charge of Esteban’s defense, his time on the bench will not occur until late January. “A new date has been set,” Robles reported during his meeting with journalists.
It so happens that the former director of the CNI could not answer the questions, since her work is protected by the Official Secrets Law. The judge has requested the declassification of a series of documents that the Government is already studying. If they finally stop being classified, Esteban will be able responder to questions and defend yourself.
