Footage Captures Firebombing of Sydney Building Company CEO’s Home
Emergency services responded to a firebombing incident at the Sydney home of George Bardas, chief executive of Hansen Yuncken, one of Australia’s largest building companies, in the early hours of Thursday, April 24, 2026.
Fire and Rescue NSW attended the scene in Putney after reports of a white SUV on fire in the driveway. The blaze was extinguished, and occupants were evacuated as a precaution. No injuries were reported.
NSW Police established a crime scene and confirmed the fire is being treated as suspicious. Initial inquiries indicate the incident was deliberate.
Video footage circulated online via SCN WorldStar, an independent media channel focused on Sydney’s underworld, shows individuals smashing the window of a white vehicle in the driveway and pouring fuel from a red Jerry can into the home’s entryway before igniting it. The attackers were heard shouting, “F— you George!” as they fled.
Text overlaid on the video stated it was a “message to George Bardas and any other builders that aim for to play dirty,” with additional warnings including, “Stay out of our game and we’ll stay out of yours. Continue to test the waters and you’ll face repercussions.”
Hansen Yuncken is a major Australian construction firm involved in significant government projects, including hospitals, prisons, police stations, and university campuses. Police have confirmed there is no suggestion Bardas is involved in any wrongdoing; he is considered a victim of crime.
The attack follows a pattern of similar arson incidents targeting senior figures in the construction industry, including prior firebombings in Victoria directed at high-profile building company directors.
Investigations into the firebombing remain ongoing, with authorities actively pursuing leads related to the deliberate fire-setting incident.
