The Mexican authorities arrested this Wednesday in the northwest of the country a man identified as the alleged head of security for the children of the former capo of the Sinaloa cartel Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, for which the United States offered a rcompensation of three million dollars.
Néstor Isidro Pérez Salas, alias El Niniwas captured during a operation in the northern city of Culiacáncapital of the state of Sinaloa, on Wednesday afternoon, according to the National Registry of Detentions of the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection.
Pérez Salas, 30 years old, He allegedly directed the security of Guzmán’s childrenknown for Los Chapitos, according to prosecutors in the Southern District of New York. Pérez Salas is one of nearly two dozen defendants that appear in the indictment document of the case of the children of “El Chapo”.
The arrest of Pérez Salas was also confirmed by a federal agent who did not offer more details because the operation was still in progress. Several participated in the intervention dozens of elements of the Army and the National Guardwith support from two military helicopters.
The authorities reported that the detainee would be transferred to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime in Mexico City.
