Threads Expands Trending Topics Feature to Japan
Following a successful rollout in the U.S. earlier this year, Threads is expanding its popular “Trending Now” feature to Japan. This move comes after numerous requests from users outside the U.S. eager to join the conversation around trending topics.
Adam Mosseri, the Meta executive leading Instagram and Threads, confirmed the news, stating, “Lots of folks outside the US have been asking for the “Trending Now” feature, and we’re working on bringing it to more countries. This week, we’ll begin testing the feature in Japan with a small number of people to start.”
Threads emphasizes that the Trending Now feature showcases real-time conversations, offering users a glimpse into what’s currently buzzing within the platform. However, it remains unclear whether the feature will implement any filters to exclude political topics.
While Threads states that it doesn’t actively promote political content, the nature of online discussions often leads to political topics gaining traction and appearing in trending sections.
With the expansion to Japan, Threads continues to refine and grow its features, aiming to provide a dynamic and engaging experience for its global user base.
