Timothée Chalamet Surprises Fans at Look-Alike Contest, Chaos Ensues
In a whirlwind of curly hair and high cheekbones, Timothée Chalamet made a surprise appearance at his own look-alike contest in Lower Manhattan on Sunday. The event, organized by YouTube personality Anthony Po, drew a massive crowd of Chalamet enthusiasts, leading to police intervention and a few unexpected twists.
Thousands Flock to Chalamet Look-Alike Contest
Advertised on flyers around New York City, the contest promised a $50 prize to the best doppelgänger. Word spread quickly on social media, with thousands RSVPing to the event held in Washington Square Park. However, the enthusiastic turnout quickly overwhelmed the park, prompting police to order the crowd to disperse and issue a $500 fine to the organizers for holding an unpermitted event. At least one contestant was even taken into custody, though the reason for the arrest remains unclear.
Chalamet Joins the Fun
“It started off as a silly joke and now it’s turned pandemonium,” said Paige Nguyen, a producer for Anthony Po.
Undeterred by the initial chaos, most of the wannabe-Chalamets relocated to a nearby park where the contest continued. Chalamet himself made an appearance, posing for photos with his look-alikes, some of whom had even dressed up as his famous characters, Willy Wonka and Paul Atreides.
The Winner Takes the Stage
The look-alikes were judged on their resemblance to Chalamet, their ability to speak French, and their ideas for making the world a better place. After much deliberation, the audience crowned Miles Mitchell, a Staten Island resident and college senior, as the winner. Dressed as Willy Wonka, Mitchell tossed candy to his cheering fans, proving that sometimes, even a look-alike contest can be a sweet success.
“I’m excited and I’m also overwhelmed,” Mitchell said. “There were so many good look-alikes. It was really a toss-up.”
