Tottenham Hotspur Seeks Performance Psychologist Amid Relegation Battle
Tottenham Hotspur have advertised for a lead performance psychologist to support their men’s first team as they fight to avoid Premier League relegation. The club confirmed the vacancy follows head coach Roberto De Zerbi’s assessment that the squad needs a “change in mentality” after slipping into the bottom three of the league table.

The role, advertised on LinkedIn, requires an “outstanding performance psychologist” to deliver evidence-based psychological support to elite players. Responsibilities include individual player support, systemic operate across coaching and performance staff, and developing a psychologically informed performance culture throughout the team.
Tottenham have won just seven of their 33 Premier League fixtures in the 2025-26 season, going 15 league games without a win. De Zerbi, appointed as the club’s third head coach of the season in late March, has earned only one point from his first two games in charge.
The club has also listed a vacancy for a sport psychologist to join its women’s team, reflecting a broader effort to strengthen mental health support across both squads.
With five games remaining and Tottenham two points from safety, the appointment aims to address what De Zerbi described as the need to give players the “right mentality” to survive the relegation battle.
