On Friday, October 31st, con artists stole jewelry and valuables from an 84-year-old woman in Mülheim an der Ruhr. The crime occurred around midday in the Saarner Strasse area. The police are looking for witnesses.
According to previous findings, the senior citizen received a call at around 11:45 a.m. from a person who claimed to be an employee of the “Duisburg District Court”.The caller explained that the police would visit her that same day because a fraud case was being investigated against her. An alleged police officer would visit her apartment to check the valuables there.
During the phone call, a man pretending to be a police officer rang the woman’s doorbell. he entered the apartment and left shortly afterwards under an excuse to go to his vehicle. Though, the man did not return and the phone call was ended shortly afterwards. Only then did the elderly woman notice that jewelry and valuables were missing.
