Trump and the Next Japanese Prime Minister’s meeting
(Washington = Yonhap News) Correspondent Hong Jung-kyu – U.S. President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit Japan before attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Gyeongju on November 31st, according to Reuters on October 24th (local time).
U.S.-Japan officials report that President Trump will meet with the successor to Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, who is set to step down on November 4th.
this visit is expected to build upon the strong alliance between the U.S. and Japan, its largest ally in Asia, and follow up on the recent trade agreement between the two countries.
Reuters indicates President trump’s visit to Japan will precede his attendance at the APEC summit.
President Trump has already agreed to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping during the APEC summit. Discussions are also underway regarding a potential meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
Additionally, President trump has confirmed his attendance at the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) summit in Malaysia from November 26th-28th, as announced by the Malaysian Prime Minister.
