Trump Evacuated from White House Correspondents’ Dinner After Loud Noises Prompt Security Response

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were evacuated from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday night after loud popping noises were heard at the venue, triggering an immediate security response by the Secret Service. Officials confirmed the president and first lady are safe, and a suspect has been apprehended in connection with the incident.

The evacuation occurred shortly after the event began, with Secret Service agents swiftly escorting Trump and Melania from the stage. According to a statement from Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi, “The president and the first lady are safe along (with) all protectees. One individual is in custody.”

Authorities identified the suspect as a 30-year-old man from California. Photos released later showed the suspect lying face down on the carpet, surrounded by law enforcement agents. The individual was taken into custody without further incident.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche addressed the media following the incident, stating that charges against the suspect “should be self-evident, given the conduct.” He added that multiple charges are expected, including those related to firearm possession, and emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing.

“Tonight you saw the very worst and the very best of this country,” Blanche said. “You saw the very worst by the actions of that coward that the president just talked about. But you also saw the very best because you saw law enforcement do exactly what they’re supposed to do.”

FBI Director Kash Patel urged the public to approach forward with any information related to the event, saying, “Share any information whatsoever related to this incident.”

The White House Correspondents’ Dinner, an annual gathering of journalists, politicians, and celebrities, was temporarily suspended following the evacuation. Attendees were briefly held in place before being permitted to leave the venue under heightened security.

No injuries were reported among attendees or staff. The Secret Service confirmed that all protective measures functioned as intended, and no breach of secure areas occurred.

As of Sunday morning, the suspect remains in federal custody, and authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the incident. No further details have been released regarding the nature of the loud noises or any potential weapons involved.

The incident marks one of the most significant security disruptions at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in recent years, underscoring the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in protecting high-profile public events.
