Turkish Grand Prix Set for Formula 1 Return in 2027
The Turkish Grand Prix is confirmed to return to the Formula 1 calendar starting in 2027 under a five-year agreement, marking the circuit’s comeback after several years away from the world championship.
Istanbul Park, designed by renowned circuit architect Hermann Tilke, will host the race beginning in 2027. The venue previously held Formula 1 events from 2005 to 2011 and again in 2020 and 2021 during the pandemic-affected seasons.
Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali announced the deal, expressing enthusiasm about returning to Istanbul. He highlighted the city’s unique position as a cultural bridge between Europe and Asia and thanked Turkish government officials and sporting authorities for their support in securing the agreement.
The return of the Turkish Grand Prix makes Turkey the second new venue confirmed for the 2027 Formula 1 season, alongside the Algarve International Circuit in Portimao, which will host a revived Portuguese Grand Prix.
Istanbul Park has hosted several memorable Formula 1 moments over the years, including notable on-track incidents during its earlier tenure on the calendar.
The five-year deal ensures the Turkish Grand Prix will remain part of the Formula 1 schedule through at least the 2031 season, providing long-term stability for the event and its fans.
