Dmytro Kuleba has taken advantage of his invitation to the informal meeting of the foreign ministers of the European Union to ask more weapons for Ukraine. The politician has arrived in Toledo after a tour of Paris and Prague with a clear idea: to reach an agreement after the meeting.
“I take this opportunity to ask all EU Member States that operate F-16s to join the Netherlands, Denmark and Norway in contributing to the aviation coalition not only with training, but also with planes“, Kuleba said. This request does not include Spain, which does not have this type of fighter.
What Kuleba has requested from Albares has been another type of weaponry. “The Spanish government has provided us with the equipment and weapons we needed. Spain was one of the first to deliver its Hawk systems last fall, when the missile attack began,” Zelensky’s minister began. However, he has asked Albares “to hand over more battle tanks armored vehicles and air defense systems”.
Minister Albares has responded that “every request from Ukraine is studied and to the extent of our possibilities, we have been attending to it. The will to help Ukraine for as long as necessary is present and will not change”, however, he has not responded to the possibility of fitting out more Leopards to send them to the front.
“When we win the war I will go out and say publicly that we don’t need more, as long as we are fighting we need more. We need everything to win and restore peace in Europe,” Kuleba insisted.
