As the war in Ukraine marks 565 days, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reported that his troops, who are carrying out a counteroffensive against the Russian occupation forces, have advanced on the southern front during the last weekwhile there have also been movements near Bakhmut, in the east.

kyiv has retaken towns and settlements in its three-month offensive, but its soldiers have been hampered by vast Russian minefields and trenches.

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Army states that Russia prepares a new forced mobilization of between 400,000 and 700,000 new recruitsamong them some 40,000 Chechens, before the “catastrophic” casualties that the Russian Army would be suffering in Ukraine.

For its part, Russia concluded widely denounced regional and municipal elections, including in Ukraine’s annexed regions, with strong support for President Vladimir Putin amid criticism of the electoral fraudand pressure from kyiv to recover its territory.

The G-20 summit in New Delhi concluded this Sunday without a condemnation to Moscow for the war in Ukraine but the French president, Emmanuel Macron, celebrated that the leaders’ summit had confirmed the isolation of Russia. A summit that neither the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, nor his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, attended.
