A shooting in Pavlohrad, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Ukraine, on February 18, 2026, resulted in one death and multiple injuries, according to reports from Ukrainian authorities. The incident occurred near a supermarket and involved a gunman opening fire on security personnel.

Details of the Incident

The 28-year-vintage perpetrator, a local resident and member of the Ukrainian military, reportedly fired upon private security workers with a machine gun. One security guard died at the scene and another was transported to a medical facility with gunshot wounds. Police, with the assistance of the KORD special forces unit, apprehended the suspect.

The suspect has been charged with premeditated murder and attempted premeditated murder.

Pavlohrad and Recent Attacks

Pavlohrad, a city with a population of approximately 101,430 as of 2022, serves as a key humanitarian aid hub for those evacuating front-line areas. The city has been the target of significant Russian attacks, most recently experiencing a “hellish night and morning” of strikes on July 19, 2025, involving missiles and drones.
