Megarezky University Students Join Forces with Community to Combat Dengue Fever
Students from Megarezky University (Unimerz) Makassar recently joined hands with residents of Borong Sapiri, Bontomanai Village, Bontomarannu District, Gowa, in a collaborative effort to combat dengue fever.
The initiative, involving 30 participants including students, residents, and local government officials, focused on cleaning sewers and removing mosquito breeding grounds.
Dengue fever, a serious illness caused by the dengue virus transmitted through the bite of infected Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, poses a significant threat to public health. Symptoms include fever, headache, and skin rash, and in severe cases, can lead to dengue hemorrhagic fever, a potentially fatal complication.
Syamsuddin Dg Ganyu, a resident of Borong Sapiri, expressed his gratitude for the initiative, stating, "This activity is incredibly beneficial for our community. We hope it becomes a regular occurrence to effectively reduce mosquito breeding and minimize the risk of dengue fever in our area."
This collaborative effort exemplifies the importance of community engagement in public health initiatives. By working together, students, residents, and government officials demonstrate a shared commitment to improving sanitation, raising awareness about dengue prevention, and ultimately safeguarding the health and wellbeing of the community.
Maintaining environmental cleanliness plays a crucial role in reducing mosquito populations and preventing the spread of dengue fever.
