Jürgen Aigner Elected as New President of USC Münster

Münster, Germany – Jürgen Aigner has been elected as the new president of USC Münster e. V., the club announced on Wednesday. The 59-year-ancient Aigner will immediately assume the leadership position of the Bundesliga volleyball club, succeeding Martin Gesigora, who stepped down after five years in office and a total of 18 years on the USC board.

Aigner’s Background and Vision

Aigner’s election took place during a members’ meeting of USC Münster. Following his election, Aigner stated, “I thank the members for their trust and look forward to working with my fellow board members on the successful future of USC Münster.” He acknowledged the challenges facing the club, emphasizing that “financial consolidation is at the top of our list.”

The new president will work alongside the existing vice presidents: Sven Adrian, Cornelia Hesse, Dr. Christian Klöver, and Manuel Wiemann, as well as youth committee chair Ute Zahlten. Aigner appealed to supporters, stating, “I inquire everyone who carries the USC in their hearts to support it to the best of their ability. Together we can achieve a lot.”

Experience in Volleyball Administration

Aigner has been a member of USC Münster since 1995. Prior to this appointment, he held several other administrative roles within the sport, including Vice President of the West German Volleyball Association (WVV), President of VCO Münster, and Chairman of the Münster Volleyball District. He also previously served as Vice President on the USC board between 2014 and 2016.

Jürgen Aigner has been elected for a term of one year. His election marks a return to the presidency for the nine-time German volleyball champions. The club is focused on financial stability and aims to build on its successes with a collaborative approach involving its members, board, and supporters.
