Vertiv to Add Hundreds of Jobs in Derry and Donegal Amid AI Demand

Vertiv, a global provider of critical digital infrastructure, announced plans to create at least 200 jobs, with the potential to reach several hundred, across its manufacturing facilities in Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland, and County Donegal, Republic of Ireland. The expansion is driven by increasing global demand, particularly in the rapidly growing artificial intelligence (AI) sector. Expansion Details

The latest roles will be based at Vertiv’s three manufacturing facilities in the region: Campsie in Derry, and Burnfoot and Letterkenny in County Donegal. Approximately 60% of the positions will be located in Derry, with the remaining 40% in Donegal. The company anticipates an “immediate need” for 200 people, with potential for significant growth later in the year.

Job Roles

The recruitment drive will focus on positions in manufacturing, engineering, quality assurance, and support functions. Specifically, Vertiv is seeking electricians, panel wirers, mechanical fitters, and general operators. Both full-time and part-time opportunities will be available, with a primary focus on full-time roles.

The investment is valued at millions of pounds and is seen as a significant boost to the regional economy. Paul Ryan, President of Vertiv in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), stated that the expansion demonstrates confidence in the skilled workforce and business environment of the Northwest region. The expansion will increase Vertiv’s manufacturing capacity, enabling the company to meet the growing demand for its critical digital infrastructure solutions.

Vertiv operates in over 130 countries and supplies power, cooling, and IT infrastructure solutions and services to data centers and communications networks. The company entered the Irish market in 2021 with the acquisition of E&I Engineering, a company founded by Derry man Philip O’Doherty.
