Viola Davis Headlines Action Thriller “G20” Premiering on Prime Video This Spring
Get ready for a high-octane thriller starring Academy Award winner Viola Davis! Prime Video announced that “G20,” an action-packed film with a politically charged twist, will premiere globally on April 10th.
Davis takes on the role of President Danielle Sutton, the U.S. leader who becomes the target of a dangerous attack during the annual G20 summit. Forced to evade capture, she must rely on her intelligence and resilience to protect her family, defend her country, and safeguard world leaders from further harm.
A Star-Studded Cast and Behind-the-Scenes Team
“G20” boasts a phenomenal cast alongside Davis, including Anthony Anderson, Marsai Martin, Ramón Rodríguez, Douglas Hodge, Elizabeth Marvel, Sabrina Impacciatore, Christopher Farrar, and Antony Starr.
The film is directed by Patricia Riggen (“The 33,” “Selma”), who brings her signature intensity and cinematic prowess to this thrilling story. The screenplay comes from Caitlin Parrish, Erica Weiss, and the writing duo Logan Miller and Noah Miller. Producer Andrew Lazar joins Davis and Julius Tennon in bringing “G20” to life.
The project is a co-production between Amazon MGM Studios and MRC, with Mad Chance Productions and JuVee Productions also involved.
“An Edge-of-Your-Seat Thrill Ride”
Director Patricia Riggen shared her vision for the film, stating, “This is Viola Davis as you’ve never seen her — heroically kicking tons of ass in a global thrill ride. With ‘G20,’ I wanted to make the kind of classic, edge-of-your-seat action film that I’ve always been such a fan of, but one that draws on the high stakes of our modern and technologically advanced world we live in. I hope to give audiences an experience that will captivate them from start to finish.”
Davis echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the role’s impact, “It was the sort of thing you’d imagine as a kid, just playing the most heroic character you could possibly play, and you create Danielle Sutton, who was a war hero and then won the election on a liberal ticket. I think it just so happens that it mirrored a lot of what was happening in American politics at the time, but really it’s just meant to be a fun movie.”
Mark your calendars for April 10th and prepare for an action-packed cinematic experience when “G20” premieres exclusively on Prime Video.
