Virginia Sirolli Dazzles Judges on “The Voice” with Powerful Performance
Geneva native Virginia Sirolli, 26, captivated the jury on Saturday evening’s episode of “The Voice” on TF1, securing a spot on the show with a unanimous decision. She will be joining Amel Bent’s team after her compelling rendition of JJ’s “Wasted Love,” the recent winner of the Eurovision contest.
A Moment of Intense Focus
Sirolli described the experience as intensely focused, almost a voluntary blackout to manage her emotions. “Concentrated, and in a sort of voluntary blackout, so as not to be overwhelmed by my emotions,” she explained. Despite her experience performing in musicals and shows, including the Revue genevoise 2024, she admitted to having shaky legs before taking the stage, especially with her parents in the audience. Her primary goal was to avoid breaking down in tears.
The Turning Chairs and the Feeling of Relief
The turning of all four chairs – a rare occurrence – brought a wave of relief, liberation, joy, and pride. Sirolli emphasized the importance of remaining focused on her performance even amidst the excitement.
A Song That Encapsulates Her Artistic Identity
Sirolli chose “Wasted Love” because she felt it perfectly represented her versatility as a musician. “Because this title ‘encapsulates’ what I am. I’m versatile, musically, and the song goes off the beaten track, with a pop beginning then lyrical elements, in particular,” she stated. Her musical background is diverse, encompassing classical music, variety, and a deep admiration for artists like Lady Gaga. She aspires to blend techno with opera.
Choosing a Coach: From Lara Fabian to Amel Bent
Initially hoping to operate with Lara Fabian, Sirolli ended up with Amel Bent after Fabian was blocked by Tayc. Bent’s message of freedom resonated deeply with Sirolli, who described it as a fundamental value in both her music and her life. She hopes to be inspired by Bent’s modernity and be pushed outside of her comfort zone.
The Dream of Winning
While acknowledging that simply being selected is an experience in itself, Sirolli admitted that the desire to win is now exceptionally real. She also recognizes that success on “The Voice” can provide a significant boost, particularly through social media exposure.
